Cookie Policy

Last updated: 3 November 2026.

1. Introduction

This Cookie Policy explains how Crosswire Books, an imprint of Church Street Bureau Ltd, uses cookies on https://crosswire.org.uk/. It is adapted from Church Street Bureau’s corporate Cookie Policy to describe this publishing website.

2. What are cookies?

A cookie is a small file sent with a website’s pages and stored by your browser on your computer or another device. The information may be returned to the website during a later visit.

3. Scripts and related technologies

Scripts are pieces of program code used to make a website work, such as opening the mobile navigation menu. A web beacon or tracking pixel is a small image used to monitor website traffic. The current publishing site does not use advertising pixels or analytics tracking scripts.

4. Cookies used on this website

The site uses WordPress. Its cookies support essential functions and, where you choose them, convenience preferences.

  • Login cookie test: visiting the login page sets a temporary cookie to check whether your browser accepts cookies. It contains no personal data and is discarded when the browser closes.
  • Login and security: when you sign in, WordPress uses cookies to keep you authenticated. Login cookies normally last for two days, or two weeks if you choose “Remember Me”. They are removed when you log out.
  • Screen preferences: signed-in users may have cookies that remember their display choices for up to one year.
  • Comment preferences: where comments are available, you may choose to save your name, email address and website in cookies so you do not need to enter them again. These cookies last for one year.

The current publishing site does not use analytics or advertising cookies and does not include the corporate site’s Kadence Blocks or social-sharing integrations. Ordinary public browsing does not require you to sign in.

5. External websites and embedded content

Book purchase buttons take you to independent retailers or Books2Read. Their own cookie and privacy policies apply when you visit them. Historical or future articles may contain third-party embedded content; if you load such content, the provider may collect data and use its own cookies as though you had visited that provider’s website. See our Privacy Policy for more information about embedded content.

6. Your choices and consent

Essential login and security cookies support the service you request when you sign in. Saving comment details is optional. This site does not currently use a cookie preference pop-up or offer the corporate site’s consent-management controls. If optional analytics or advertising services are introduced, this policy and any required consent controls will be updated before those services are enabled.

7. Enabling, disabling and deleting cookies

You can use your browser settings to delete cookies, block them, or receive a notice when a cookie is placed. Consult your browser’s Help section for instructions. Blocking essential cookies may prevent login and some other functions from working. Deleting cookies may also remove preferences you have chosen.

8. Your personal data

Our Privacy Policy explains retention, access, correction and erasure requests, and how to contact us or the Information Commissioner’s Office.
